BUDDHA HEADS OR STATUES: Buddha heads are very sentitive for Thais to send so be aware as many shippers will not ship because one item may be a head that now needs to be cleared by the Dept of Fine Arst and the Customs. LICENSE REQUIRED FOR BUDDHA IMAGES, TEAK PRODUCTS AND ALL MUST BE FUMIGATED IF MADE FROM WOOD OR IN A WOODEN CRATE: Buddha images, Bodhisattva images or parts of are forbidden to be exported out of Thailand. ( exceptions only for worshipping by Buddhists; or cultural exchanges; or studying purposes. A license must be obtained from the Department of Fine Arts) for all objects of antiquity or objects of art, irrespective of whether they are originals or reproductions before they are allowed out of the country. QUOTAS ON EXPORTS OUT OF THAILAND:
The Department of Foreign Trade administers the textile quota allocation to Thai exporters by granting them Textile Export Licenses for products entering the American, Canadian or European markets. The available quota is divided into two parts: the basic quota and the residual quota. The principal quota (usually 70 to 80 percent of the export quota available) is distributed free annually to exporting firms on the basis of their past export performance. The rest 20 percent, is allocated on a monthly basis and can be sought by new firms, or ones already holding principal quotas. The system favors large exporting firms who can monopolize the rents because of their historical performance, and forces new firms to concentrate on non-quota markets including Japan, and ASEAN countries. If wanting to import clothing to EU, USA or Canadian markets their is a quota you must pay in Thailand on top of the purchase price for the clothes plus shipping. Textile and Clothing Quotas The Thai government imposes quotas on companies exporting textiles and clothes to various countries. Please contact the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) or the Thai Garment Manufacturers Association to find out more. Thailand's chief exports are rice, sugar, corn, coffee and other agricultural products. Food like rice and sugar, are reserved by law to ensure that domestic needs are met first before exports can be permitted. Thus, some goods require an export license according to the Export Standard Act (No. 2) of 1979, administered by the Commodity standards Office of the Ministry of commerce. Together with some other laws, this Act aims to control the quality of the goods exported as well as to assure financial and managerial capabilities of exporting companies.
FOOD & COSMETICS
TO USA:
The Anit-Bioterrism Act that went into
effect this year is administered by the US Food and Drug Administration.
All food products must meet FDA labeling and content requirements. In
addition the manufacturer and importer must be registered with the FDA.
Prior to vessel/aircraft arrival, "prior notice" must be filed
with FDA advising them of the details of any and all products for human
or animal consumption. Tableware is also FDA regulated. While
registration and prior notice are not required on these items, FDA
clearance must be obtained. Please provide specific and detailed listing
of items you want to import and I will look of duty rates. Please be
sure to advise material makeup and components of all items. No problem
importing without a Certificate of Origin. This documents is used to
substantiate duty free treatment under the General System of
Preferences. Not all items are enterable duty free, so the need for the
document for those items is inconsequential. If buying off Thai
companies make sure they are FDA approved before you export. Do not
export any food if not as the whole FCL will be confiscated. COFFEE: is now under quota and you cannot ship out unless you have a license. Our company HOLDS THIS LICENSE & we are selling coffee now in 2010 to any buyers [ exports Arabica coffee ]
Exchange Controls
Import transactions require exchange
control approval. The procedures differ according to the method of
payment. Most payments for imports may be approved by authorized banks
upon submission of documents such as invoices, collection bills and
import permits (if required). A Certificate of Payment from an
authorized bank or the Bank of Thailand, as the case may be, is required
before the Customs Department will clear imported goods. This
Certificate of Payment is required to check every payment for imports,
which result in goods being brought in to the country Above rates not including a teak license or a fine arts certificate if one
requires this. All quotations are subject to change because of
this and will be adjusted as to the baht value of the day. Some rates are higher than others. eg Hawaii is
dearer than say New York and the Pacific Islands are also dearer. SENDING GOODS OUT OF THAILAND: When asking us for a quotation and you wish to send personal items please tell us exactly what you are shipping. Itemize all articles so we can tell you if you need fumigation, clearance from Customs and Fine Arts depts etc. We will not quote you if you do not list all items you wish to shipTry to work out how many cubic metres you need to ship. Min 1cbm and this means 1m x1m x1m. Over 1cbm the price gets cheaper so the more you do the cheaper it becomes.The same with clearing back in your country as the more you send the cheaper it is.
PICKING UP GOODS FROM YOUR BUSINESS OR HOME:
Yes if you are sending personal items home and want us to pick up yes we can do this anywhere in Bangkok. We have pickups and well as 6 and 10 wheeler trucks to cranes so can arrange to pick up for you anywhere in Thailand. Please try to itemize all goods if you pack yourself as this is needed for customs to check at the destination port. It is not within your interests to hidde any items as if customs does not see it on the packing list they can and will confiscate all your shipment.
CLEARING YOUR GOODS BACK HOME:
Sometimes it is easier to have a clearing agent to clear your goods and pay the duties for your goods coming in. They will even truck to your door but they will handle your full shipment. They will save you the hassles etc of getting the goods direct to you thru customs and Agriculture depts. YOUR OWN CLEARING AGENT:
We can NOTIFY your clearing agent if you nominate one to accept your goods at the destination but remember our job is finished when we load the goods on board FOB or to the port of entry CIF or CF. It is then your responsibility once it reaches the destination port on the BIL (Bill of lading)
EXPORT FROM THAILAND UNDER 45KGS:
If you want to export under 45kgs please go to the Post Office & use Economy air service. For airfreight the minimum is 45kgs and under this you still have to pay for 45kgs as the start and the clearing costs at the detination you still have to pay. The Post Office can supply you with boxes etc and costs P.O. to door are much cheaper than airfreight so please do not ask us. The other service if you want in 4 days is UPS or Fedex courier but up to you. Sending 1cbm by sea to NZ or Australia the clearing costs alone are approx $400?? without MAF inspecting & does not include the wood crate costs. TAXES & DUTY TO PAY IN YOUR COUNTRY:
