Carnet de Passages en Douane

is a "Notebook for Passing Through Customs" or carnet or called a triptic.

A carnet is a simple customs document but not reconixed in Thailand & is a passport for your motor vehicle/ motorcycle when you take it overseas & thru countries as on a tour. It allows temporary import for a limited period of time without paying money at each border, so its like customs duty and other excise taxes except no payment is necessary. Thailand is not a party to the CARNET but they will allow you to use on the border with Malaysia but you must exit the same way at the same border. Make sure and insist on a Simplified Customs Declaration Form filled out before you cross as you will have headaches shipping back out if not using the same border for exit. eg. ea or Air freight from Bangkok. Log Customs Office name: border crossing & tel number as well.

SHIPPING BIKES FROM THAILAND:

If you want us to quote you for shipping any bikes, sidecars, cars etc anywhere in the world from Thailand then send us an email. We can pick your bikes up anywhere in Thailand to bring to Bangkok. You are allowed to have a bag of personal gear eg. helmets, tools, leather jackets etc. Please check the list of what we want when writing to us.

SHIPPING BIKES VIA AIRFREIGHT:

Not practical: Airlines will consider airfreighting a motorcycle as DG cargo but the charge is volume x weight and very high rate. If you want us to quote you need to advise dimension of the bike then we can quote our service for your consideration.

New Zealand & AUSTRALIA: Check MAF NZ & http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/ road transport. Get a deregistration Certificate or a Completion Inspection Cert (if vehicle has not been registered for road use - MX bikes) If it was manufactured after 1/10/2002 get a Statement of Compliance if you can't get one of the above. Get Proof of Ownership if you cant get forms - check with Entry Certifier (an approved engineer) that documents will allow bike to be registered and prove it is yours.

SHIPPING BIKES TO AUSTRALIA NEW RULES:

If you want to ship a bike from Thailand to Australia new rules apply. Before shipping the bike get approval from the Dept of Infrastructure & Planning in Australia. We cannot do this only you. The process costs about $A30?? and takes up to 17 days. Don't send before as the bike will remain in quarantine & storage and charges can range from $150-180 per day while the bike is processed. If wanting to ship we can assist you so ask us.
