Myanmar is still strict on the use of Internet and there are no mobile phones so when you go there you are heavily restricted. Perhaps thats why there's not a lot of foreigners about there certainly are plenty of eyes watching you. The average Burmese person are very nice and caring people but unfortunately the military are obsessed with not giving over the reins to democratic rule. You can obtain a multiple visa in Rangoon.

| Mae Sai has reopened
for visas. If travelling
to Myanmar you must have a visa. Due to department of Immigration new procedure which comes into effect on 18 June, 2009, all visa on arrival to Myanmar will be suspended until further notice.
Forget internet as the Junta have stopped any ISP working as
theres still no Universities operating and no changes to
democratic rule.
Burmese prefer tourists to book "complete travel arrangements" from abroad, visas can be obtained in Bangkok or via your travel agent in Thailand. Chiangmai flies direct to Rangoon. WHAT YOU NEED: Plan early and if you want to do your own visa then go to Bangkok. The application for a Myanmar visa can take one working day to stamp your visa & 3 working days to complete. You must provide the following information:
PASSPORTS Valid passport required by all to visit Myanmar. Passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months at time of entry.
All internet connections in the country
have been
suspended by the authorities since 15 Dec 1999.If your matter is
