TOURIST INFORMATION FOR TRAVELLERS TO MANILA, PHILIPPINES
MANILA HOTELS IN MALATE: Manila HAS many hotels and we are listing some of the Hotels in the Malate district. Malate is the area close to the sea and perhaps the better of the areas to stay for Tourists. It is closer to the Pier but further from the airport than Makate. Makate is the Business district of Manila but closer to the airport.
MANILA HOTEL: Hotels in the Malate area is ROTHMANS HOTEL, EUROTEL HOTEL, PALM PLAZA HOTEL, EXECUTIVE PLAZA HOTEL, LAS PALMAS HOTEL, HOTEL KIMBERLEY, EUROTEL HOTEL just to list a few. Eurotel right across the road from Robinsons has Breakfast buffet all you can eat for 220P net. MANILA GOOD HOTELS:
Outside the Riviera Mansion Hotel looking towards Las Plmas Hotel and 7/11 A good inexpensive Manila Hotel is the Riviera Mansion Hotel at A. Mabini St, Malate, Tel: (632) 523-4511 to 25 Fax: (632) 522-2606 email: info@rivieramansion.com @ $US38- 40 a night but book on the internet thru a travel agent as cheaper than booking with the hotel. 192 baht by taxi and theres a choice of many others in this area within 2 blocks and Robinsons is just around the corner 5 minutes walk. Theres a 7/11 next door and they sell everything that you can buy in Thailand's 7/11 or most things and another 7/11 around the corner on Pedro Gil.. Watch out for beggar kids outside but just ignore them. Acrosse the road theres a big Casino well guarded called Poccar so worth a look?? and you can waste your leftover $$$ if you want. This end of town Malati is a bit of an eye sore as many buildings not looking good and beggars but it is OK and fun but be careful at night as you will be accosted by beggars and watch dealers trying to sell fakes. The Hotel itself has a small restaurant and backs on to its partner hotel Rothmans and open 24 hours but they do n ot seem to have a menu showing so eat out is better. The rooms are fine, fairly quiet apart from the odd horns blaring and the bathrooms done in marble and the doors open using a card system. If booking by internet you will probably get a side room with small windows but this is Ok for the sound outside? Staff are good but if you want to eat away try the Robinson complete for meals. or 7/11 for yoghut etc which is 3 minutes away around the corner. In the supermarket in Robinsons bring your own spoon if buying yogurt. The Hotel has no complimentary water but does have a fridge in your room so you can stock up at the 7/11. It can also get conjested with traffic and of course touts are outside all Hotels so be careful. If using taxis make sure they use the meters. Theres make shift samlaws which Iwe wouldn't recommend traveliing on but many jeeneys & taxis. Its sister Hotel ROTHMANS is right behind the Riviera so if full then just walk down the land beside the Riviera.
Eurotel Hotel across the road from ROBINSONS in Malate is handy to everything you need.
Just 20 mtres away from the Riviera Mansion Hotel is Las Palmas Hotel
SIMM CARDS & WHERE TO BUY IN MANILA: Its so Easy to add a new simm while youre on holiday as the cost for a simm card is a mere 40P for a GlOBE or 30P for Talk n Text. You can top up with 100P 200P 500P from money changers to local shops and theres plenty of outlets. Long distance calls no problem and reception is fine. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE UNLOCKED YOUR MOBILE Smart Wireless Center in Robinson on the 2nd floor. Buying mobile phones watch the prices as they will put the cost per month for 6 months on the asking price but normally they will tell you this. POWER OUTLETS IN MANILA:Are 2 pin flats or round 220 volts 60hz no earth. You can buy adaptors cheap in Ace Hardware in the malls easy enough or on the street by street vendors and cheap or bring your own. There is no earth in the Philippines.. BUYING CLOTHES IN MANILA:In the Robinson Centre there are clothes at discount rates; sunglasses, handicrafts etc on the ground floor at the back.
