WIRELESS INTERNET FREE IN HOTELS: There are now many Hotels in Pattaya that provide you with FREE wireless internet. Most are the Foreign owned Hotels and Guesthouses and the likes of the Apex or the Lek are still a long way away from providing these services. Theres plenty of cafes for interent and 24 hours ones rated at 20- 30 baht per hour. On Pattaya Klang main road thers a bout 5 internet cafes and the speeds are OK. You can also get a card for TRUE wireless internet from Subway Restaurants but check your signal on your laptop before you book a Hotel to see what your reception is like and check on the streets as TOT wired internet is useless in some places. You do have the choice however of TTNT as well. Many hotels have PCs available for internet and there are many 24hour internet cafes now. Pattaya used to be expensive for internet but over the last 5 years the internet has come on stream and now much better and cheaper. R-CON RESIDENCE: A budget hotel for short and long stay by the market on Soi Buakhao Rd. Around 600 baht per night and wireless card in all the rooms--NOT FREE. Its UK owned and also rooms start in the off season at 450 baht up to 700baht but check their website. Free wireless internet in all the rooms. CENTRAL DEPT: Has wireless internet Wifi Card so you have to buy now. Check your laptop to see whats in range.Cards cost 150 baht and you can get a TRUE card for around 700baht that lasts unlimited for 1 month. From Bangkok buses leave Ekamai Bus Depot along Soi 63 Sukhumvit Road. They leave every 20 minutes every day. Cost is 77 baht. Taxis will take you also for 1500 baht from Bangkok to Pattaya a 2 hour journey and in Pattaya the Travel agents pool with a trip tp the airport in Bangkok 800baht--many around and all Hotels can arrange your transport. Pattaya North Rd station has many buses daily from 5.30am to 21.00hours and a bus that goes direct to Suvannabhumi airport Bangkok. Also buses go to the Northern Bus Station Bangkok every 30 minutes fare is 77 baht & here you can connect to a bus to Chiangmai. From Chiangmai there is a direct Bus from the Arcade Bus Station: Nachonchai Air. This is an excellent service & costs 600 baht leaving every 2 hours. This service includes 2 meals, pillow supplied plus snacks and drinks on board. Takes approx 14 hours and you can stretch out as only 32 seats. Once you reach Pattaya take a Songtaew pickup for 5 baht per stretch of road unless you negotiate before hand.
