JETSKI ON PATTAYA BEACH            

The seaside city of Pattaya in Thailand is a haven for the single minded tourists and ex pat haven boasting some 1600 bars.However with the sub prime crises affecting Thais therre are many young Thais who come to Pattaya looking for that quick buck. With them are the hire guys who use freinds bikes and cars to rent to unwary foreigners.

HIRING JETSKIS & SCAM IN PATTAYA

The Police can't or won't help you if you hire a jet ski then you sink it or turn sharply and it fills up with water. The motto in Thailand" whatever you hire whatever is damaged stolen or lost, you pay" so you hire a bike, or jetski at your own risk. You can however negotiate a lesser amount which you are nuts if you don't do but never say you will pay as then the price remians the same or can now go higher. To hire a Jet Ski can cost you around 800baht per 1/2 hour. There is no such thing as insurance for jet ski hire so you do so knowing if something goes wrong you pay. If you blow the motor then its your fault so remember these things.

PUKET JETSKI : operating a Jet Ski in Phuket the operator is supposed to hold a ‘Second Class Helmsmen of Power Driven Sea-going Vessels’ certificate??? but the Pattaya operators have nothing??

Loh, a former student of National Junior College, had gone to Phuket to celebrate the end of his national service with four of his friends when the freak accident happened, on April 2 2010. Loh Ying Jie, 20, was riding the jet ski off Patong Beach in Phuket on April 2 when he was hit by one of his friends on another jet ski. Jie died at Singapore General Hospital from swelling of the brain some days later.

2 KILLED IN JET SKI CRASH IN PATTAYA

In Pattaya on the 24th June 2010 it was reported by one of our readers that an Indian National on holiday with his daughter aged 14 years was involved in a collision with another Indian/middle eastern lone rider on another jetski. On one jetski was Uma Dhar Kesarwani, 46, and his daughter, Sakshi, 14. Mr Kesarwani broke his neck in the collision and died in the ambulance on the way to hospital. Sakshi suffered a dislocated hip and a broken jaw and is recovering in Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
Mr Kesarwani along with his wife, son and two daughters, hired a jetski from a local operator about 5pm on Thursday before the high-speed collision.
The lone rider whom was at fault quickly took off and the Police are looking for him. In such incidents you have no recompense nor will you get any insurance as the operators do not offer this so you ride one of these jetskis at your own peril. Many of the Thai boys who run these iperations are cowboys and love to show off??? A lot of indians seem to take to these jst skis and every now and again are scammed.

SPEED BOATS COLLIDE IN SAMUI 2010

26th of June 2010 2 Speed boats with around 70 people collided in the accident involving two speedboats transporting tourists to the island of Koh Phangan from Koh Samui for the monthly full moon party. with 39 confirmed injuries and at least 2 people thought to be missing. The collision, at approximately 11:00pm was caused by bad weather and the boat operators not seeing each other but bet your life speed was a contributing factor and over crowding.
