The NMC has been in existence since 1987. Over the years people from many nations have been members, or came along with us. Sean Walker is the club president, he is married to a Thai and has two children. He lives in Thailand and can speak the language fluently.

Thailand has long been a favorite place to visit in Asia. The reasons why are numerous and well known, such as the friendly attitude of the people, safety, economics, and the varied scenic beauty of the country. Others have already said so many positive things about Thailand, and any opinion from us will be favorable, so I will refrain from too much comment. I love it here, it's a great place to live and raise children.
 
 

We have explored the Golden Triangle for years. We rode our motorcycles over mule caravan trails that, not long, before brought opium southward to the world. Some of these trails remain to this day; some have been made into highways. This area is extremely explorable. Our excursions are for those who enjoy the outdoors, and would like to venture into the jungle and other wilderness areas.

All too soon we realized the north was getting familiar. Feeling the urge to break new ground, we moved on to the west, south and then to the open eastern area known as Esan, home of the Lao populace. Khmer ruins and prehistoric sites are the draw for those who appreciate archaeology. Fewer people go to this area because of the time necessary due to the distance. All the better! If you are travelling by jeep you need patience. If you are traveling by motorcycle you need endurance and experience. Thailand is generally considered as safe as many western countries.

We are not a tour company and therefore do not advertise for people to tour. If you are interested in participating we welcome you, but we don't offer service like a tour company. You must be willing to participate and help when needed. Think of it as an expedition that you are a part of. This is an inexpensive alternative to buying a tour.

We will provide all the information about costs and so forth. You must be responsible to pay your own way, and share some costs with the group. Thailand is not very expensive but this depends on the type of excursion you will be on and the number of days you travel. We know how to help you spend conservatively and still have a good time. If you want to come we are helpful and easygoing. The reason we have the club is to enjoy ourselves.

Expeditions begin in November and continue through March. This is the comfortable season.

In case you skipped the pages where we describe our expeditions I will fill you in on the way we operate. We are expedition organizers. You can join us or assemble your friends and we will organize an expedition together.

Below are the approximate costs per person. Everyone must be responsible to pay their own way as expenses occur. When you stay in a hotel you pay the desk clerk, at a restaurant the waiter, at the gas pumps the attendant and so forth. We arrange organize and translate. To calculate the cost use $60.00 as the average cost per day or come up with a closer estimate using the list below. Then multiply by the number of days you will be participating, remember that you will have days spent in transit. Then just add the airfares. Realistically, this is an approximate cost and the actual cost may be more due to unforeseen purchases, or cheaper if you are thrifty. Remember to bring enough travelers checks to cover your spending and drinking habits.
